Deeper (Caroline & West, #1)

In this New Adult debut by Robin York, a college student is attacked online and must restore her name—and stay clear of a guy who’s wrong for her, but feels so right.
When Caroline Piasecki’s ex-boyfriend posts their sex pictures on the Internet, it destroys her reputation as a nice college girl. Suddenly her once-promising future doesn’t look so bright. Caroline tries to make the pictures disappear, hoping time will bury her shame. Then a guy she barely knows rises to her defense and punches her ex to the ground.

West Leavitt is the last person Caroline needs in her life. Everyone knows he’s shady. Still, Caroline is drawn to his confidence and swagger—even after promising her dad she’ll keep her distance. On late, sleepless nights, Caroline starts wandering into the bakery where West works.

They hang out, they talk, they listen. Though Caroline and West tell each other they’re “just friends,” their feelings intensify until it becomes impossible to pretend. The more complicated her relationship with West gets, the harder Caroline has to struggle to discover what she wants for herself—and the easier it becomes to find the courage she needs to fight back against the people who would judge her.

When all seems lost, sometimes the only place to go is deeper.

Advance praise for Deeper

Review : Shatter Me (Shatter Me #1) by Tahereh Mafi

Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1)

Paperback, International Edition, 338 pages
Published November 15th 2011 by Harper

My thoughts

Shatter me is the very first Dystopian Novel I ever finished. Yes believe it or not. I don’t follow the hype of Dystopia I don’t add so easily books at my book pile and I either had conversations about those novels in general for no reason. I do saw Hunger Games which I dislike it and I thought the book would be this way.

So what happened? I actually brought the paper pack of Shatter me without really knowing in which genre the book was. I just checked the plot which it was fascinated and I pretty much decide to read.. Which happened after a year or so because out of the blue I decide to start over.

I haven’t read any novels from the genre so I can’t really judge or compare it with other novels the same kind. My opinion is 100% honest and without anything or anyone to be involved.

The cover is super fantastic and creepy. When I first saw it I thought the girl was super cool and I imagine that book would be in a way… cute? But looking again at the cover I must say I was so so wrong.

The book was hard to get into at least the first, let’s just say the first 100 pages. I had no idea what’s going on. Who was this girl Juliette with this special gift or curse why she is locked in a cell? In what future world we are living and how hard it is? I believe the main reason I haven’t started any Dystopian novels so far is because of the fatal and horrible world each character leaves. I just couldn’t take it, in a way it is too painful to read. Unlike here we don’t get to read too much information’s about that. As I said first chapters is a full of mystery and secrets and there is so much going on with Juliette locked up in a cell and then Adam appears and you wonder who are all these people? What are they doing there Who is Warner and what the hell is going on?

Unfortunately I am kind of a lot of patient with books and I kept reading because I wanted to know for a  change what is happening. After you get used of it all come in pieces not everything is revealed but at least you have a pretty good clear about everyone about The Reestablishment and their plans and the others called Omega Point.

I liked the characters. I didn’t loved them but at least I was able to connect with them and to understand their actions and every each decision everyone took. Juliette was such a weird character to connect with. But I must give credits to her because no matter how much she suffered and isolated she used to be because of her gift she ended up to be  super strong kick ass character which still needs some improving I believe.

Adam was the  usually sweet cute and nice guy. I liked him a lot for pretty much everything he did for Juliette but mostly because of the brother love we saw. That was amazing! And I pretty much always fall for the nice guys in love triangles! LOL

Warner…. There is something so weird about him that made me feel itchy or whatever you can called it. I sick and cold psycho which his psychosis and his actions to Juliette made me sick and all I wanted was to punch him. I didn’t believed for a second he actually had feelings for her (if you can call them ‘’feelings’’)

The only and main problem I had with the book was the strike text during Juliette part. I wanted to concentrate and with those strikes I just lost focus over and over again and I just couldn’t understand WHY we had to read those plus the repeating phrases in some parts.. I just couldn’t make it at first and didn’t really understand i think the reason of those.

For the end I just had to say that I was surprised to see a romance in Dystopian novels and most defiantly in Shatter me. All I was thinking before was that those novels are mostly about Future Apocalyptic events and a nightmare future world. It turned out to be this way but not as bad as I thought it should be.

Looking forward for the next book in the series there is so many questions to be answered most definitely I would like to know more about the bird tattoo (if you know what I mean) And I never thought I would say this but I will defiantly read more from this genre now.

Biting Cold (Chicagoland Vampires #6) by Chloe Neill

Kindle Edition, 1st Edition, 339 pages
Published August 7th 2012 by New American Library

After all the crazy and dramatic events that took part in Drink Deep I finally find the time to approach Biting Cold the 7th book of the series. And with the way Drink Deep finished I just couldn’t wait to see what would happened.

Biting Cold starts right away Drink Deep left us : Merit and Ethan driving to Nebraska to find Mallory and to stop her opening the gates of Evil. It was some time ago I finished Drink Deep and some details I couldn’t quite remember well but Chloe Neill give us a review of all events just in few pages.

The plot of Biting Cold was amazing. I really enjoyed it from the begging till the end, once again I had no idea who the villain was and it was one of those few times that at last half of the book just gone in the first few hours which I was even surprised my own shelf as well too while I was reading. We also get to read more informations about who Tate is whats his role in the story. Plus with the way the book I am very curious to see how book 8th will be.

Some other stuff :

-     Mallory : Just to be clear I was never a fan of her but I didn’t hate her either. I just can’t believe she didn’t realize as a Witch she is how far away she was stepping into the Evil. Isnt supposes she knew about these things? I didn’t really enjoyed how easily she get away and didn’t suppose to be punished about it?Unless washing and cleaning dishes is a really punishment.

- Ethan and Merit : Okay I am among those who cried to death when Ethan was dead. And Also screamed a lot when Ethan was back. I really was happy and feeling all the joy even that Mallory bring him back for all the wrong seasons. But  you know I wanted a moment of happy reunion. This couple never EVER have time for some privacy for a bit at least.  Another thing that I disliked and rolled my eyes was when Ethan returned back to the ‘’i-am-no-right-for-you-and-we-cant-be-together’’ AGAIN! Did we all experience this in previous books? I had the feeling that Ethan has already sorted out his feelings about Merit why he was so unsure about them in a way?

Overall the book was enjoyable and very interesting to read doesn’t matter it is my least favourite from the series.  Cant wait for the next book!
